Our Mission

The Mission of Inner Light, Incorporated, a community based nonprofit organization, is:

  • To empower and uplift our community; ensuring & promoting access to education, health promotions, social justice, and support services leading to an increase in an individual’s quality of life.
  • We achieve our mission through awareness programs, services, & advocacy; as we strive toward a community with equity, justice and where everyone is valued and treated with dignity and respect.

OUR VISION

We envision achieving a world where all forms of injustice including health, economic, educational, and service/resource discrepancies do not exist and where discrimination, racism, and violations of our human rights does not exist; one in which our constituency, and our allies, are seen as vital change agents in the creation of a just and equitable society where all can exercise freedom and attain the highest possible quality of life.

Our work then is to make a positive impact on the communities, in which we live, by supporting, educating, and empowering individuals, families and constituency groups. Inner Light envisions a community in which we can provide for the needs of our constituents, by identifying and addressing the needs of the community and making positive steps towards bringing about a brighter, more productive, and more inclusive future for all. We further envision communities where Inner Light branches operate as part of a national network and model for serving the needs of our youth, elders, people living with HIV/AIDS or other health concerns, lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgendered individuals and their families, particularly in communities of color; and to become a leader in our collective communities advocacy, education, awareness, support and empowerment nationwide.

OUR PURPOSE

To empower people to reach for, and achieve, their highest potential and quality of life. We strive for the betterment of all people and with emphasis on people of color, gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, and questioning communities, and other marginalized peoples and communities. Through working within our communities we’ll help build a community with brother/sisterhood, quality education, hiv/aids care services, awareness, and prevention, assistance with and access to resources, and services as well as quality programming, social events and activities.
